About Ralph Ira Stafford, Jnr
Ralph Stafford was an original Toccoa Man in 1st Platoon, 1st Squad under SGT Rader. Ralph jumped into Normandy on that Night of Nights in early 6 June 1944. Ralph would also make the jump into Holland on 17 September 1944 on Chalk #75 with Carwood Lipton as the jumpmaster. The aircraft’s name was “Buzz Buggy.” Ralph was one of 24 members of Easy Company to participate in the 22 October 1944 rescue of 130 British Paratroopers and US flyers from across the north side of the Rhine River. When Easy Company came off the line and went to Mourmelon, France Ralph was moved to Company Clerk. He would survive the battle of Bastogne, Hagenau and the fight into Germany and Austria and the end of the war.
