Rawkey Dolbair was born in Colyton, Devon, England about 1571. He was baptised at St. Andrew's there on August 17, 1571, the son of Robert Dolbair and Agnes Sampson. His unique first name could have been a variant of the French name Roch. On October 10, 1602, he married, at St. Andrew's in Colyton, Mary Mitchel or Mychell, who was probably from the hamlet called Rawkerayne. Mary and Rawkey had at least seven children baptised at St. Andrew's in Colyton. He was a yeoman in the Cadhayne part of Colyton. Rawkey died in November of 1671 and was buried in the churchyard of St. Andrew's Church in Colyton on the 12th of November.
