“Rebecca Capshaw”

The name of “John’s” wife has recently been given as Rebecca, and most recently as Rebecca Capshaw. I have searched for information on the marriage of a John Tubb to a Rebecca Capshaw and have found no documentation. Entries are found in the Pedigree Resource File on FamilySearch.org. Family researchers on the southern Tubb clan apparently have picked up these entries. The interesting entries record that Rebecca Capshaw was born in 1775 as listed in the IGI and other LDS records. Those same records give John Tubb’s birth about 1700 because some fairly strong assumptions place William and George’s births in the late 1720's. Given this scenario, mother Rebecca was some 45 years younger than her sons. On the other hand, some researchers have pushed Rebecca's birth date up to 1700 and some suggest she was born in England. Other researchers list the record of the birth of John Tubb in 1657 in Wantage, Berkshire, England and the birth of his wife Rebecca Capshaw in Rutherford County in 1775. That would make John 118 years old when Rebecca was born.
