Rellan Dees

The 1880 Tallahatchie County Census lists six children in the Squire Herndon household:

F. Sousan age 14 (Sue Hollingsworth)

F. Isabelle age 13 (Ma Newman - Frances Isabelle)

F. Jinellius age 12 (Rellan Dees - this entry)

M. ? D. age 6 (Doc Herndon)

F. Jeunetta age 5 (Hettie Epps)

F. Manda age 6 mo.(Mattie Lou)

Bethel Cemetery lists these tombstones:

276-H-53-Dees, James Franklin/04-11-1859/09-06-1938/H-H54

277-H-54-Dees, Jeuellon H./07-21-1863/09-17-1941/W-H53

I believe that Jeuellon is Jinellius and this is Aunt Rellan. She married Jim Dees and I am going to ask Mother if his name was James Franklin. There is a problem here with dates. If she had been born in 1863, she would have been 17 at the time of this census rather than 12. However, a 12 can look a lot like a 17. I'd go with the date on the tombstone. I am also going to ask Mother if she was the oldest daughter in the family.
