Renée Jain (1970 - 2021)
Brief overview:
Renée (51), was attacked and murdered in her residence on a farm estate in Wolseley, WC, around 23h00 on Friday 26th March 2021 when three perpetrators gained access to her home.
"The circumstances surrounding the death of a … female are being investigated after she was killed in her residence on a farm estate in Wolseley," said police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traute. Another home at the estate was also targeted, with the residents tied up during the robbery.
No-one has been arrested.
Renée, an IT expert, and enterprise application manager at Cape Union Mart. She also served on the advisory council of the FEDISA fashion academy in Cape Town.
She was the daughter of Cathy Bruyns and the late André (Bakkies) Rossouw. He was an editor of Sarie, an assistant editor of Huisgenoot and also the author of Die Burger's column "Van alle kante". Nicci Rossouw, her only sibling, was a well-known Cape Town florist and stylist. She died from cancer in 2010.
Renée leaves behind her husband Raj and mother Cathy Bruyns.
Update Wednesday 18th May 2022: Two suspects were arrested on Wednesday 18th May 2022 around 04:20. Police spokesperson, Col. Andrè Traut, detectives attached to the police's organised crime unit carried out a tracking operation in their search for Renée's killers. It led them to Tulbagh in the Cape wine country in the early hours of the morning where they arrested the two suspects. The 21- and 23-year-old suspects have been charged with murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
They were due to appear at Wolseley Magistrates' Court on Thursday 19th May 2022.
