- Mother, Mary Elizabeth (Lyman) Harrington; daughter of George and Catherine (Tichnor) Lyman, of Bennington.
Columbus (Ohio) High School; B.A. Williams 1872; studied in Yale Divinity School 1872-76; ordained to the Congregational ministry October 25,1876, in Orange, Vt., where pastor three years; pastor East Dorset, Vt., 1879-1882 Presbyterian Church, Sand Lake, N. Y., 1883-87, First Presbyterian Church, Brunswick, N. Y., 1887-1892, Presbyterian Church,Middle Granville, N. Y. 1892-1900, Denton, N. Y., 1900-08, and Hunter, N. Y., from 1908 until his retirement in 1916; had since lived at various times at Sand Lake, Tannersville, and Troy, N. Y.; member First Congregational Church,Bennington, at death.
Married April 7, 1885, at Sand Lake, Harriet Elizabeth,daughter of George and Louise (Merrill) Alexander.

Edith Alexander (Mrs. John H. Curtis);
Florence (died in infancy);
Mildred Beach (Mrs.Ralph M Lord); and
Stella Elizabeth (Mrs. Ulric Sharpe).
Death due to chronic valvular heart disease. Buried in Old Bennington Cemetery. Survived by wife, son, three daughters, a granddaughter, a brother, William G. Harrington, of Columbus, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Egbert, of Bronxville, N. Y.

114 Mary Elizabeth Lyman, m. George O. Harrington at Bennington, Vt., June 8, 1847; graduated at Yale College in 1845; was civil engineer for some years; entered the commissary department of U. S. Yolunteer Corps in 1863, with the rank of capt., but rose during his term of service, to that of col. He was stationed at Columbus, Ohio. When the state board of charities was constituted, he was appointed president thereof. One of the annual reports which he has made in this capacity was spoken of as a very able and interesting document. Columbus, O.
