Rev John J. Esau

John was born 12 Feb 1900 in Mountain Lake, where he was part of the Mennonite church in Mountain Lake, which began with 47 charter members in 1889, the congregation grew to an active membership of 698 in 1952. He also served in Ohio as a pastor. He married Elvina Augsburger Esau on June 24, 1926. He then married Arvilla Mae Geiger Esau on July 8, 1962, in Pandora, Ohio. He died on January 13, 1980, in his hometown at the age of 79.

His brother Peter's obituary preferred memorials to the Bethel church, or to Peter's own church in Minneapolis, which was Baptist.
