p 513 of History of Berks Co., M Montgomery, 1909: Rev. John B. Latshaw, son of Abraham, was born in Colebrookdale township April 4. 1804, and at his death Feb. 11, 1878, was buried at East Coventry Mennonite Church. He was reared to manhood in his native district, and after his marriage moved to East Coventry township, Chester county, where he was elected to the ministry of his faith. He preached at East Coventry Church and at the East Vincent Church for many years. He also carried on farming, owning a tract of eighty acres. He married Mary Boyer, born Dec. 4, 1802, and died June 27, 1882. Their children were: Sallie m. Christian Hunsberger; Elizabeth m. Henry Kulp; Abraham lives at Hughesville, Lycoming county; Sophia m. Benjamin Halteman; Samuel B.; Mary m. Jesse Hunsberger; and Susan died aged sixteen years. He served the Manatawny region in the Mennonite church for 44 years. First ordained in 1834 at E Coventry Mennonite. Herald of Truth - Volume XV, Number 3 - March 1878, page 35 LATSHAW.-Feb. 11th, in East Coventry, Chester Co., Pa., Bishop JOHN LATSHAW, aged 73 years, 10 months and 7 days. He was in the ministry about 44 years, and bishop some 36 years. He was much beloved and respected by his neighbors and by all the brotherhood, and by all his fellow-ministers. He was firmly established and grounded upon the rock and corner-stone Christ Jesus. His conversation was always proper and seasoned with love. He was a good counselor in the conference of the ministers, and testified earnestly against the innovations of the times. May God bless his labors. Services were held at the house by Pre. Conner and John Hunsberger, and at the meeting-house by Josiah Clemmer and Andrew Mack from Rev. 13:14.
