Son of John and Susan Boston Hickman. At various times Minor was an Exhorter in the Methodist Episcopal Church, an Elder, and a Deacon. In 1908 he became a licensed minister in Gate, OK. That same year he married Margaret Edith Allison in Englewood, KS. They had one child, Margaret Ruth. In 1910 Minor passed an exam that qualified him to teach English grammar, arithmetic, orthography, physiology & hygiene, and algebra, among other things. Minor & Margaret divorced in 1918.
He remarried to Maud Hawley on Sept. 2, 1921, in Wichita, KS. In 1925 Minor graduated from Iliff Seminary in Denver, CO. His & Maud's first child Edward Boston Hickman was born and died as an infant while they were living in Denver. Their other children were Howard Minor, Clarence William, Raymond Edgar & John Wesley Hickman.
His wife Maud died unexpectedly at age 47. In Aug. 1945 he married Osa Reed.
Rev. Hickman preached mostly in Kansas throughout his life. Although his father had been an alcoholic and the family lived in great poverty, Minor had a wonderful mentor and teacher in his grand-uncle, the Rev. William Howard Hickman.
