Reuben was born at Preston, New London, CT, on 7 July 1748.1 He was the son of Joseph Stanton and Abigail Freeman. He married Orpha Lapham in 1770.1 He married Phebe Dorman in 1804.2 Reuben died on 4 October 1832 William Stanton indicates that he died at Stanton Hill, Coeymans Township, Albany, Co., NY and also says it was at Westerlo, Albany Co., NY. at Coeymans, Albany Co., NY. He resided at South Westerlo, Albany Co., Ny, on 2 October 1787. Reuben was a Baptist minister and surveyor in Stonington, Conn. He took up a farm on the manorial land of the Rensselaer estate at South Westerlo, Albany Co., NY, Oct 2, 1787. He is said to have lived in Dutchess Co., when he first moved to New York. His final home in New York was at Stanton Hill, Coeymans Township, Albany Co. The post-office was probably Westerlo or South Westerlo.2
