Rev. William Williamson was the minister of Inverallochy Parish Church, Aberdeenshire. He was drowned when out on a pleasure sail on The Gareloch with four gentlemen friends and Josephine McIlraith, daughter of the minister of Erskine Parish Church to whom he was to be married the following week; all of the party perished.
