About Reverend Andrew Gardner, Jr.
Note: Andrew was a graduate of Harvard. he began preaching in Lancaster in May 1701 and was soon to be ordained when he was shot by mistaking him for the Enemy. "In the dusk of evening, a sentinel heard the approach of a man in the bushes, and ordered him to stand. He made no reply. After repeating the command without effect, he fired his musket, and upon examination found that he had killed his minister." The sentinel was not reproved. (Wilder 13)
