MATHEW SELKRIG [SELCRAIG, SELKIRK], 1690 M.A. (Glasgow 1662); bursar in philosophy; licentiate in 1678; was rudely assaulted for his supposed favour to the Indulgence ; called by a number of the parishioners of Crichton, Cranstoun, Ormiston, and Humbie, after toleration was granted, and ord. at Steel's Mains, by mins. within the Synod, Nov. 1687; the call being homologated 10th Aug., he was adm. 18th Sept. 1690; died 30th Nov. 1728, aged about 86. He marr. (name unknown), and had issue—Mathew, died 1698; Robert, merchant, Edinburgh; and a daugh. (marr. James Grierson, min. of Trinity Parish, Edinburgh).—[Mun. Univ.
