Solomon was the son of Dennis Geraldeous & Mary Polly (Green) O'Bryan. He moved to TX and became Prof. of Mathematics at Baylor University at Independence, TX in 1852. He was also pastor of the First Baptist Church there. In 1854 he moved to Waco, TX and continued to preach. He also served as First President of Waco University which later merged with Baylor. Solomon married Sarah Anne Chandler, daughter of Rev. Pleasant Barnett & Mary (O'Kelley) Chandler 21 February 1854 in Fayette County, Texas. To them four children were born: 1. William Carey O'Bryan 2. Mary P. O'Bryan 3. John Chandler O'Bryan 4. Solomon Green O'Bryan Jr.
