About Meade, Rhodes, mar. Newlon
Rhodes served in the War of 1812. He married Priscilla Newlon in Bedford Co, VA. Rhodes and Priscilla probably moved to Kentucky with his parents, as all of his children seem to have been born there. He became Justice of the Floyd Co., KY Court 24 Jan 1822. He purchased land above the mouth of Mud Creek on the Big Sandy River near present day Harold, Floyd Co, KY from Alexander Lackey 1825. Rhodes and Priscilla moved from Kentucky to Washington County, Indiana with 12 of their 16 children...2 had died as infants and 2 others married and stayed in KY. Rhodes was a Baptist preacher and opposed to slavery....and his father Robert had slaves....so maybe thats the reason he moved away. Buried in Mead Cemetery.
