Richard Fitz Randolph was born in 1705 in Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., NJ, the son of Edward Fitz Randolph and Katherine Hartshorne. Richard was reportedly a carpenter at Perth Amboy, NJ, where he passed away in 1754.[2]

Surname note

In this Fitz Randolph family, Fitz appears to have been used by all family members as part of their surname: the Oris H.F. Randolph genealogy assumes this to be the case when listing the children in the family in which Richard is a child, and in the family where Richard was the father. The current consensus is therefore to use the surname Fitz Randolph. (Need to confirm how Fitz Randolph was used in legal documents and when births were recorded documents.)
