About Richard W Heer
Richard W. Heer, beloved husband, father and grandfather went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2007, following a courageous and dignified battle with cancer. Richard was born in Wenatchee, WA, May 14, 1932, to Ed Heer and Regina (Schempp) Heer. He enjoyed growing up on his parents wheat farm outside of Ephrata, WA with his four older siblings, whom he dearly loved. Richard attended school in Ephrata and upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war.
On November 7, 1953, he returned to the Ephrata area, joining his father and brother, Harvey Heer, in farming wheat. Richard later branched off with his sons, Mike and Tom Heer, farming until he retired in 1987. He and wife, Rheta, relocated in the Methow Valley and they enjoyed the surrounding mountains, packing into them on horseback, snowmobiling and tending to their beautifully landscaped yard, horses and pasture. They returned to the Soap Lake area in 2004. The most important thing in Richard's life was taking care of his loving wife, Rheta, his three children and grandchildren. He enjoyed doing as much as he could as a family and together, he and his wife created a loving and very close family dynamic. He enjoyed preparing his children for the life ahead of them, gently guiding them in the way they should go. Richard enjoyed keeping busy, puttering around, fixing things and making sure everything was operating in its best condition.
Richard is survived by his wife, Rheta; his sons, Mike (Dawn) Heer, Tom (Sue) Heer; and daughter, Teri Heer; his grandchildren, Megan Heer, Alissa Fraser, Nichole Heer, Emily Fraser, Amelia Knutzen, Lisa Heer and Bryan Heer; his brother, Harvey (Shirley) Heer; his sister, Pauline (Curt) Weisell; and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Regina Heer; his sisters, Arlene Dyer and Elsie Solum.
We are blessed with loving memories of our husband, father and grandfather, which we will cherish forever.
Funeral arrangements are provided by Nicoles Funeral Home, Ephrata. An Interment will be held at Valley View Cemetery, Soap Lake on February 7, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Ephrata Four Square
