About Richard Homburger
Came to US at Ellis Island 2/8/1940 on the George Washington out of Genoa, Italy. He Is listed on document "record of aliens for special inquiry" and under "cause of detention" was "LPC Med. Hold." Dad said he was coughing up blood and knew if he wasn't allowed entry he would be shipped back to Germany where he'd be exterminated. It was the most frightening time of his life. The physician examining him reassured him saying, don't worry, we'll get you in. And he did! Since his JD in Swiss Law wasn't especially marketable, he pursued an MBA in accounting at Columbia Univ. His first teaching job was at West Virginia State University and at the time a segregated black college. He was later hired by WSU to develop their graduate accounting program.
