On a personal note, my curiosity about Myrtle's family was due to my appreciation for her being largely responsible for my lifelong love of literature. When I was about six she gave me a large collection of National Geographics which whetted my interest in science. Also every year she gave me a book from the British 'My Bookhouse' series of 14 illustrated books in yearly sequence from nursery to age 14. They ranged from Old English nursery rhymes and German fairy tales to abbreviated Homer, Cervantes, Chaucer, Shakespeare, Dickens, etc. Oddly, she showed little interest in books herself but certainly stirred my young gene pool!
DC in March 1961 In the Army from November 1959 to April 1960 Ft. Leonard Wood, MO Basic Training camp built circa 1916-17. Then to Ft. Sill, OK for Artillery training where I was named in the top 5 of the Battalion. I was in the Illinois National Guard trained by the regular Army. My serial number was NG 414 784
