About Richard Osborn

Pilgrim father who came from London England in 1634 and settled at Windsor CT. Founder of the New England branch of the family and was in the Pequot war and for his service received a grant of land in Fairfield CT 80 acres.

Capt. Richard OSBORN was born circa 1612 in London, ENGLAND. He sailed in the Hopewell for Barbados on 17FEB1634, and immigrated on 1Nov1634 to Boston, Suffolk Co. MA.

He was in Hingham MA by 1635, then removed to Windsor with the original settlers. He served in the Pequot War in 1637 for which he was given 80 acres in Fairfield (in 1671) for his service. He was named in Stiles HISTORY of WINDSOR as a participant in the Mystic Fort Fight. He removed to New Haven CT in 1639, and was one of 55 signers of the Fundamental Agreement 4JUN1639. He took the oath of allegience in 1644 . He eventually moved to Westchester NY where he died 8FEB1684.
