Richard Shortridge was born about 1663 in Portsmouth, Rockingham, New Hampshire to Richard Shortridge and Esther (Dearborn) Shortridge. He is the brother of Mary Shortridge and Ann Shortridge . He married Alice (Creber) Shortridge — married [date unknown] [location unknown]. He is the father of Esther (Shortridge) Collins, Miriam (Shortridge) Banfield, Richard Shortridge and Susanna (Shortridge) Abbott. Richard died in 1712 in Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts Bay.

“Richard Shortridge married to Alice Creeber 16th May 1687 by Jus: Barefoote”[1]

Richard was a mariner and lived in Portsmouth. He evidently died many years prior to the administration of his estate which was granted to Alice 19 Dec. 1712. Mark Hunking and George Walker of Portsmouth appraised the estate of Richard Shortridge of Portsmouth, mariner, which was worth £114/8/6.[2]

Alice was taxed for the Mill Dam in 1707 and 1713. She was received in the South Church on 22 May 1715.
