From http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/THOMPSON/2002-07/1027...
Richard -1) THOMSON died in the plague in Clerkenwell of 1603. His wife Florence CROMLAN THOMSON stayed on with the GORGES' Sir Ferdinand's wife, Lady Ann and Florence were close, the THOMSON'S had been with the GORGES family for a long time.
Queen Elizabeth died 1603 and James I became the new King - he sent Sir Gorges to the fort at Plymouth in county Devonshire, England - In the autumn of 1603 Sir Gorges moved his family and servants, Florence CROMLAN THOMSON and her son David were among them.
The two older THOMSON boys, Golde and Moses were already apprenticed and would remain in London with their masters. The 23 year old Ann was probably married. Nothing more is known of these 3 siblings of David THOMSON.
David THOMSON was to live in the Plymouth, Devonshire, England area for two decades. Here he was to take his apothecary apprenticeship - he would marry Amias COLE and have 4 children. His friend and patron Sir Ferdinand Gorges was to put increasing responsibilities on David - David being his protégé.
David married Amias COLE in 1613 - in 1615 her father William COLE, shipwright, gave the young couple a house which he had built "neere the ould conduit."
