About Richard de Montfort
Though web trees give Simon de Montfort as the father of the Richard de Montfort who married Rose de Brandeston, he was born to a different line of the de Montforts, and was the illegitimate son of Peter, or Piers, de Montfort.
See, for instance, Douglas Richardson, Royal Ancestry, Vol. IV, p. 266.
Richard de Montfort was born circa 1325 at Lapworth, Beaudesert, Codbarrow in Tanworth, & Henley in Arden, Warwickshire, England.
In 1363 the manor of Odes was settled on Sir Peter de Montfort, lord of Beaudesert, for life, with remainder to his illegitimate son Richard de Montfort and Rose his wife and their heirs.
