Will, In his will, written 7 Oct 1457 (36 Henry VI), Edmond Brudenell gave "To his daughter Alice, his piece of silver plate, with the cover chased with gold; also to his said daughter, wife of Richard Waller, Jun. Esq. of Kent, and to the heirs of their bodies, his manor of Woodmandelse, to be settled on him and her, when Richard Waller the elder settles on the said Richard Waller the younger, and Alice his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, lands of the yearly value of 40 £." [1]

1457 Richard and Alice (Brudenell) Waller, were married by 7 October 1457, the date of the will of Alice’s father, Edmond Brudenell. The language of the will, as abstracted by Arthur Collins, suggests a fairly recent marriage, as Edmund’s manor of Woodmandelse is to be settled upon Richard and Alice when Richard’s father, Richard Waller the elder, settles on them lands of the yearly value of 40 £. [2]

1460 John, the son of Richard and Alice (Brudenell) Waller, was aged 21 and more when Alice died on 12 July, 21 Edward IV [1481]. [3]

1471 Richard Waller died before 1 December. "William Est, yeoman, administrator of the goods ... of Richard Waller, receiver of royal lands in Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hants., who died intestate ... son and heir of Richard Waller late of Groombridge, Kent, gent." [4]

1481 Alice (Brudenell) Waller died on 12 July. [5]

Reference: SC 8/345/E1322 Description: Petitioners: Richard Deryk, servant of the bishop of Winchester. Name(s): Deryk, Richard Addressees: Cardinal and archbishop of York, chancellor of Ireland. Occupation: servant of the bishop of Winchester Nature of request: Deryk shows that he is sued by Harry Boys for a debt owed by Deryk to John Boys, he being in the Marshal ward of King's Bench, the debt being the arrears of an account found before Gargrave and Lye. Deryk states that there was never such an account before Gargrave and Lye, and requests that he be granted writs of sub poena to be directed to Gargrave and Lye to appear before the king in Chancery on a certain day to be examined to see if any such account was ever before them or not. Nature of endorsement: [On face:][Memorandum] that on 5 March in 28th year of the reign, WALLER and Est before the king in Chancery mainprised Deryk that if he cannot prove the matter of his case contained in the petition [...] that then all the damages and expenses which Gargrave and Lye sustained by this occasion, should be satisfied by them by consideration of the court according to the form ordained.[On dorse:]Pledges to prosecute: RICHARD WALLER, esquire; William Est.
