Alphonse Joseph Marie della Faille de Leverghem ( Antwerp , July 31, 1809 - April 2, 1879 ) was a member of the southern Dutch noble family Della Faille and a Belgian politician.
Course of life
Alphonse della Faille was the son of Charles della Faille de Terbrugge (1784-1849) and his second wife Reine van de Werve (1789-1864). Two of his sisters became Carmelites , two died young and two married a member of the Geelhand family.
In 1836, when Booischot became independent from Heist-op-den-Berg , he became the first mayor of this municipality. He took the oath for this on November 18, 1836. In 1839 he became a member of the deputation of the province of Antwerp and resigned as mayor. He was succeeded in this position by JF Lambrechts . [1] He was also elected member of the Chamber of Representatives .
He married Clementine van Havre (1812-1877), daughter of art lover Baron Jean van Havre and Isabelle Stier. They had seven children, among whom Alexandre della Faille (1845-1907) who was the only one of the family to have an extensive offspring.
In 2002, during the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Maria-ter-Heide parish , a statue of della Faille de Leverghem was unveiled. Cast in bronze, it stands on the victory square in Maria-ter-Heide. [2] Wikipedia
