Robert A. Bender, 71, of Enfield, passed in to eternal life on Monday March 13, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. He was the beloved husband of 49 years to the late Cecilia P. (Fernandez) Bender (2/28/2017). Robert was born on March 10, 1946 in Peekskill, NY to the late William and Marie (Strumke) Bender and resided in Enfield for many years. Robert served his country proudly with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Prior to retiring Robert was employed for 19 years with Xerox Corp. and most recently with Lynch Toyota in Manchester. In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to music, woodworking, fixing anything that may be broken and having a beer with friends. Robert is survived by his two daughters; Tracy Mueller & her husband Larry of Pennsylvania, and Kimberly Bender of Enfield, his beloved granddaughter Mikayla March-Bender, a brother David Bender & his wife Linda of Verplank, NY and a sister Susan Piscitello of Millerton, NY, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins their families and friends. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Saturday March 18, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield, CT. A Memorial Service with Fr. John Melnick officiating will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by military honors. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
