About Robert Boyd Arters
Boyd attended Walker public school, Manross public school, Mill Village high school, and Waterford Academy. He worked as his father's assistant until his father died; then, he remained with his mother for a time, then left for 2 years. He returned to manage her farm until she died in 1881.
1897----Boyd started a meat market in Mill Village in partnership with E.J. Shearer, evidently a family tree member. For 2 years, he represented the Keystone View company of Meadville as a traveling agent.
He resided in the state of Washington from 10-December-1909 --- 01-August-1912.
Boyd was a prohibitionist, and a party leader, and a county treasurer candidate. He served as burgess of Mill Village and also on the school board. Active member of the Mill Village Grange and a master with the Patrons of Husbandry. Member, Mill Village Lodge #349, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Steward and superintendant of the Sunday School, Methodist Episcopal Church.
12-August-1916----Boyd "read some very good original poetry" at the annual Arters-Arthurs familhy reunion, held at the home of James B. Arters, Bradleytown, PA.
Last-Will----Boyd willed the farm to his son, Glenn (executor) as well as he 1/2 interest in the Hinebaugh farm; last will specified payment of $20.00 per month to his wife, and a $1,000.00 payment and bonds to his daughter, Marie Comegys.
