Richardson, Douglas. Heath - Johnson - Morris Update: The Ancestry of Agnes (Cheney) Heath. New England Historical and Genealogical Register. (New England Historic Genealogical Society, Apr 1995), 149:174. Robert(D) Cheney, the earliest known progenitor of this family, was born say 1460 and resided in the parish of Waltham Abbey, Essex. The name of his wife is not known. In 1494 he witnessed a grant from a John Teye to John Dalon, franklin, William Johnson, and William Crouche, yeomen, all of Wattham Abbey, of a tenement and garden in East Street in Waltham Abbey, which had formerly been held by Thomas Teye, father of the grantor.
