PILTON is a parish 3 miles south-west from Shepton 
Mallet and 5 south-cast from Wells, on the turnpike road to 
Glastonbury, in the Mid division of the county... the 
chancel was restored in 1862 at the expense of the lessees of 
the rectorial estate; it has a large stained east window in 
the shape of a star; there are also two stained windows on 
the south »lie of the chancel, one erected by Robert Clerk, esq., of Westholme House, in memory of Elizabeth Frances, his wife, it has three lights; subjects, scenes in the life of Dorcas;...
