                CW5 Robert “Bob” W. Gant
               Command Chief Warrant Officer

CW5 Bob Gant was born in March, 1947 in Carrollton, Missouri and grew up in rural northwest Missouri. He was a graduate of Laredo, MO High School. He joined the US Army in 1967 after two years of college. After his enlistment, he worked as a police officer and earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree (Administration of Justice) at Maple Woods Community College, Kansas City, MO; a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Administration of Justice) at Avila College, Kansas City, MO; and a Master of Science Degree (Criminal Justice Administration) at Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, MO. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has attended numerous civilian law enforcement training courses such as polygraph examiner school, forensic photography, basic and advanced investigative hypnosis and numerous behavioral interview/interrogation courses.

CW5 Gant joined the Army in 1967 as a Military Policeman in the Army Security Agency. After serving two tours in Viet Nam (1968-1969), he finished his enlistment at HQ, Army Security Agency, Arlington Hall Station, VA. In 1979, he joined the Army Reserves as an apprentice special agent assigned to the 493d MP Det. (CID), Kansas City, MO. He was appointed WO1 in June, 1982. He transferred to the Third Region, USACIDC, in 1986 where he served as a Drilling IMA Staff Officer in Field Operations until his selection for the Active Duty Reserve program in May, 1999. He volunteered for and served at HQ, 3d MP Group (CID) during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and again during Operation Uphold Democracy. During both mobilizations, he served a dual role as Reserve Affairs Staff Officer and General Crimes Supervisor. In September, 2007, he was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer Five and was assigned as the Command Chief Warrant Officer of the 88th Regional Readiness Command at Ft. Snelling, MN until his retirement in 2009.

Just as in his military career, his civilian career has been focused in criminal investigations and investigation management. He worked as a police detective for the Liberty, Missouri Police Department, then as an investigations supervisor for the Excelsior Springs, Missouri Police Department. After moving to the Atlanta area, he accepted a position as the director of facility police at the Georgia Youth Development Center. In 1987, he moved to the private sector as a regional loss prevention manager for Circuit City, Big B Drugs and Tandy Corporation. He continued his loss prevention career as the Loss Prevention Audit Manager for Computer City (a Tandy Company), in which he managed 9 regional loss prevention auditors throughout the U.S. and Canada. After Computer City was sold, he worked as a consultant for Tandy Corporation in the Radio Shack Division as a Special Loss Prevention Manager.

CW5 Gant’s military awards include: the Order of the Marechaussee, the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (3 awards), the National Defense Service Medal (3 awards), the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (6 awards), the Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with silver hourglass, “M” & “2” devices), the Army Service Ribbon, the Viet Nam Campaign Medal and the Viet Nam Service Medal (with 6 campaign stars).

CW5 Gant and his wife, Charlotte, were married in 1967 and currently reside in Jacksonville, FL. They have one son, Robert Eric, who, with his two sons, live in Jacksonville, FL. Robert Eric is a veteran of the US Army, and now, works as a project director for a defense contractor developing and designing computer-based training for the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, US Marine Corps, Department of Homeland Defense and other Federal agencies.
