Gould, 78, founder of Buffalo's Gould and Swanson accounting firm, died last Saturday (Feb. 5, 1994) in the New Hampshire Veterans Home, Tilton, NH. A well-known CPA in Lockport and Buffalo, Gould was a partner in the Graef, Cutting and Coit accounting firm and a manager at KPMG Peat Marwick, Buffalo, before founding Gould and Swanson. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, past president of the Buffalo Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, a former director of the state CPA society, a former member of the State Board of Regents and a founder of the Annual Institute of Federal Taxation. He had been a member for many years of the Middleport Rotary Club. A native of Cumberland, MD., he was a 1947 honors graduate of Niagara University, a graduate of the Bentley School of Accounting, Boston, Mass., and attended Hamilton College, Clinton. Gould is survived by his wife, the former Jean Coventry; a son, David of Durham, NC; four daughters, Sharon Larson of Blue Springs, Mo., Linda Massill of Marietta, Ga., Bonnie of Knoxville, Tenn., and Barbara Girard of Pembroke, NH, a sister, Stella Fales of Sarasota, FLa.; and 15 grandchildren.
