Karlstad - Robert C. Hallberg, 71, died on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at his home in Karlstad.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 19 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Karlstad, with Pastor John Morrison officiating. Casket bearers include Robert F. Hallberg, James Hallberg, Jesse Johnson, Tony Johnson, Jerry Foss and Brandon Norberg. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 2793 and American Legion Post 117 of Thief River Falls. Interment will follow in the Karlstad Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18 from noon until 7 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Robert Clifford Hallberg was born on August 10, 1933 in Karlstad, the son of August and Palma (Smeby) Hallberg, where he attended school.
On March 16, 1955 he entered the US Army in Fargo, N.D. During his service he served in Korea, received the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged on December 28, 1956.
Robert was united in marriage to Wendy Lofstrom on December 7, 1974 in Karlstad. He drove truck for various people. The majority of his working career was spent at Loeffler Concrete and Gravel, where he also worked in the gravel pit.
Robert enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and mechanics; after he retired he became an auction buff. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2793 in Thief River Falls.
He is survived by his wife Wendy of Karlstad; children, Darlene of Fargo, N.D., Robert of Jamestown, N.D., James (special family friend Darleen Kelley) of Karlstad and Kathryn of Karlstad; also surviving are brothers, Ernest (Eva) Hallberg of St. Paul, Marvin (Kathryn) Hallberg of Hallock and Palmer Hallberg of Karlstad.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph; and a baby sister.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Karlstad, with Pastor John Morrison, officiating. Burial followed in the Karlstad Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert F. Hallberg, James Hallberg, Jesse Johnson, John Lofstrom, Lenny Lofstrom and Brandon Norberg.
Military Honors VFW Post #2793 of Thief River Falls and American Legion Post # 445 of Karlstad.
