Heir Apparent of Torrance

At Duchall on 3 August 1611 Robert Hamilton, designated apparent of Torrence, witnessed an agreement between William Porterfield and Alexander Porterfield on the one part and Gabriel, George, Jean, Agnes, Marion and Mary Porterfield, on the other part. Following from the agreement William Porterfield of that Ilk transferred the Kirklands of Staynlie to his grandson George Porterfield, son of the deceased Alexander Porterfield younger of that Ilk. The Church Lands of Torrance

Assignation in his favour

Assignation by William, Lord Blantyre, son and heir of the late Walter, Lord Blantyre, and taking burden on him for Mr John Stewart, his brother and with the consent of Sir Archibald Stewart of Finnart, in favour of Robert Hamilton of Torrens, and Mr John Dunlop of that ilk, of a contract between the said Walter, Lord Blantyre, on the one part and Mr Patrick Walkinshaw, sub-dean at Glasgow, on the other part. The Lands of Corshill and Others

James Lindasay sold the lands of Corshill, Auldhousie, Lairfadis, Burnehousis, Auchinfine and Cockronane, with the mill and mill lands, extending to an eight pound land of old extent in the barony of Kilbride, to Robert Hamilton of Torrance. For greater security the laird of Torrance obtained a charter of confirmation under the Great Seal of Scotland. It was issued at Edinburgh on 22 February 1634. [John Maitland Thomson, LL.D. Death

Robert Hamilton of Torrance died without having had any children in March 1649. Hamilton Memoirs His testament dative and the inventory of his moveable estate was given up by Robert Strang in Crosshill and Robert Hamilton of Kirktonholm, who were his principal creditors. Marriage

Robert Hamilton of Torrance married Jean Porterfield Jean was the eldest daughter of Alexander Porterfield. Hamilton Heraldry She died at Glasgow in December 1658, without having had any children.
