About Robert Monroe Hoehns

Robert Monroe Hoehns, 80, of Mora, died Friday evening, January 7, 2011, at Golden Age Living Center in Stover. He was born February 2, 1930, in Smithton, a son of Leo and Grace Payne Hoehns. On June 17, 1951, at Goodwill Chapel United Methodist Church in Sedalia, he married Adelaide L. Eye, who died May 5, 2004. Mr. Hoehns was a retired carpenter. He worked on the Truman Dam. He was a member of Lake Creek United Methodist Church. He was a 1947 graduate of Smithton High School. He enjoyed visiting with people and taking road trips. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are two sons, Dennis E. Hoehns, and wife Maggie, of Cole Camp, and Mark D. Hoehns, and wife Beverly, of Mora; two daughters, Jeanette K. Kullman, and husband, John, and Sandra D. Craig, all of Sedalia; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Wayne Hoehns, of Des Moines, IA, Joe Hoehns, of St. Louis, Dewey Hoehns, of Knoxville, IA, and Jerry Hoehns, of Sedalia; and a sister, Patsy Lawson, of Topeka, KS. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Hoehns; a great-grandson, Rayden Burton; and a brother, Edward Hoehns. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Hankins officiating. Casket bearers will be Jason Craig, Shawn Hoehns, Craig Hoehns, Trenton Hoehns, Wesley Burton and Brandon Craig. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens, with military honors by VFW Post 2591. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Heckart Funeral Home.
