Deborah Howland's Bond of Gaurdianship for her son, Robert Howland, March 23, 1713

Know all men by these presents that we Deborah Howland Reclict widow of Prence Howland late of Marshfeild in the County of Plimouth decd. & Robert Barker of Pembrok sd County are holden & stand firmly bound & obleiged unto Nathaniel Thomas Esqr Judge of the Probate of Wills &c in the County of Plimouth in the full sume of fifty pounds Currant money in NewEngland To be Paid to the said Nathaniel Thomas his successors in the said office or assignes to which of us our & Each of us heirs Executors & Administrators Joyntly & Severally in the whole & for the whole firmly by tese presents sealed with our seals Dated the 23d day of March Annoqe Dom. 1713. The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden Deborah Howland who is appointed to be Gaurdian unto Robert Howland her son who is a Minor under the age of fourteen year shall well & faithfully Perform the office of Gaurdian unto the said Minor & that in & by all things according to Law. & shall Render a Plane & true accompt of her said Gaurdianship upon oath & of all & singuler such Estate as shall Come to her hands or Possession by vertue thereof & of the Profit & Improvments of t[he] same so far as the Law will Charge her therwith when she shall be therunto Lawfully Required & shall Pay & Sattisfy such & so much of the said Estate as shall befound Remaining upon her accompt (the same being first Examined & allowed of by the Judge of Probate for the time being of the said County unto the said Rober when he shall arrive at full age or otherwise as the said Judge by his Decree or sentence Pursuant to Law shall Limet & appoint. Then this obligation to be void & of no Effect or Elce to Remain & abide in full force & [virtue] Deborah Howland Robert Barker Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us Mary Otis[1] Letter of Guardianship for Deborah Howland for her son Robert Howland, March 23, 1713

Nathaniel Thomas Esqr Appointed & Comissioned by his Execlence the Govr with the advice & Consent of the Councill to be Judge of the Probate of Wills &c within the County of Plimouth in her Majesty, Province of the Massachusets, Bay in the New-England To Deborah Howland Relict widow of Prence Howland late of Marshfeild in the County aforesd decd Greet I do hereby apoint you the said Deborah Howland to be Gaurdian unto Robert Howland son of your said decd husband who is a Minor under the age of fourteen years & him the said Robert During his Minority to take into your Care & Tuition & & his Estate Lands moneys Goods & Chattels to take into your hands & Possesio for him & to Improve the same in such maner as you shall Judge best for him & to Render a Plane & true accompt of your said Gaurdianship upon oath & of all & singular such Estate as shall Come to your hand or Possesion by vertue therof & of the Profits of the same so far as the Law will charge you therwith when you shall be thereunto Lawfully Required & to Pay & Deliver such & so much of the said Estate as shall befound Remaining upon your accompt (the same being first Examined & allowed of by the Judge of Probate for the time being of the said County) unto the said Robert when he shall arrive of full age or otherwise as the said judge by his Decree or sentence Pursuant to Law shall Limit & appoint.
