Biographical Summary
"Robert Ker, bapt. 12th Nov. 1609, second son of John K., min. of Prestonpans ; educated at Univ. of Edinburgh; M.A. (25th July 1629); ord. assistant and successor to his father 11th April 1638 ; pres. by John, Earl of Haddington, in April 1646; trans, and adm. 21st April 1647 ; was a member of the Commissions of Assembly 1647, 1648, and of the Commission for visiting the Univ. of Edinburgh 1649 ; he did not conform, but was permitted to remain, through the influence of John, Duke of Lauderdale ; died 4th Feb. 1677. He marr. Jean, daugh. of John Ramsay of Edington, and had issue — Margaret ; John ; William ; George ; Anna ; Jean ; Helen ; Robert ; all of whom died young. His widow marr. Patrick Broun of Coalstoun."
