About Robert Loveland
Biography
Robert was born in Hartford, married Ruth Miller, and located in Rutland,Vermont. He bought of Daniel Lee the Gideon Cooley farm, August 29, 1798, and about that time located in Pittsford. He resided on the Cooley farm until his death at the age of 91. His wife, Ruth, died at the age of 72. Their remains are buried at the Congregational Church Cemetery at Pittsford.
At the time of the 1850 census, Robert, then eight-five years of age, was living at the Pittsford farm with his son Samuel, Samuel's wife, and Samuel's two children. Robert's son Aaron was also living at the farm, along with his wife Harriet and daughter Rosina. There also were two servants living at the farm: Lewis Gorman, age 22, born in Canada, and Martin Griffin, age 19, born in Ireland. According to the census information, the value of Robert's real estate was 10,000--a sizable sum for those days. After his death, his son Samuel took over the home farm.
