Birth: Jul. 10, 1745 Lancaster County Pennsylvania, USA Death: May 10, 1795 New Orleans Orleans Parish Louisiana, USA

Robert was killed by Bandits in New Orleans. The location of his Grave is Unknown although it is thought to be near the Hospital. This Rev War Memorial was placed in his Honor at the "James McAfee Cemetery" in McAfee, Mercer County,

"The Story of Robert McAfee Death" by Patricia Lee Watson 5th Gr Granddaughter.

Robert McAfee was a real "go-getter." He and his son Samuel, had made a flatboat trip to New Orleans to sell their farm goods for a good price, and while tied up, thugs came on the boat at night to rob them. Robert managed to fight them off the boat without them getting anything, but they had hit him in the head with an axe and he died a few hours later. His son Samuel, a teenager, had to get by the Spanish Authorities with their money, got on an ocean going ship, sail to the east coast, Charleston, I think, and then walk back to Kentucky. It was several months before he made it to Mercer County and that little family found out they were orphans. Their Mother, Anne McCoun, had died of TB.

Robert McAfee is my 5th Great Grandfather. Carole Lee Alexander.

Robert McAfee was noted as an early explorer of the Estill County area of Kentucky: sites.rootsweb.com/~kyestill/

Prior to pioneer settlement, Estill County was the site of a Shawnee village at Estill Springs, along the banks of Station Camp Creek. In the 1760s and 1770s, after John Finley, Daniel Boone, and Robert McAfee explored the area, many early settlers entered the region by way of an old buffalo and Indian trace that led to Boonesborough in what is now Madison County.

Robert McAfee, along with brothers George and William was one of the Original Fort Boonesborough Settlers. http://donchesnut.com/genealogy/pages/fortboon.htm
