Obituary 27 January 1888 New Castle Courier Robert Mcleland the son of James and Jane Mcleland was born January 25, 1805 in Clark County Kentucky. Age age 9 he removed to Clinton County Ohio where he lived for two years , removing thense to Wayne County Indiana. In March 1828 he married Catherine Cripe. Afterwards he lived in Rush County Indiana about two years and thense fore moving to Harrison Twp in that county. When he went on his land , it was all timber-- it was a home in the woods , a home of those pioneer days, but energy and well directed labor secured for him from the wilderness of the woods what furnished him a home for almost fifty years. He removed from his farm to New Castle in 1881 where he resided until he died January 25 1888. The funeral service was conducted in the Christian Church at Cadiz in the presence of an overflowing house of his old and sympathying friends. He was a member of the Christ of Christ for long periods of almost forty years , being immersed in Hillboro where he gave his attendance until the organization of the church at Cadaz. He was a faithful member of the church indeed , always being at his post whenever possible. Peacefully he passed away and peacefully he sleeps , being gathered to his Fathers at the ripe old age of eighty three years
