Daily Oklahoman, The (Oklahoma City, OK) - Thursday, October 28, 2004 Deceased Name: Robert "Bob" Wesley Megee MEGEE Robert "Bob" Wesley was surrounded by his adoring family when he departed this earth and arrived in his heavenly home with Jesus on October 27, 2004. Bob was born on a wheat farm in Sutherland, NE on Feb. 9, 1926 to Clarence and Belle Megee. As a youth, Bob worked on the farm, was an honor student, trumpet player, voice student, Eagle Scout and football player. While in High School, Bob's family moved to Washington. After graduation, Bob attended Wash. St. in Pullman, WA, where he was a member of Wash. St. Cougars football team. His college education was interrupted by WWII. He joined the Navy and was stationed at Treasure Island in San Francisco. After the war, he was accepted at the Metropolitan School of Music in Chicago, where he studied voice, cut a record, and hoped to launch a singing career. However, Bob gave up his dream in order to earn a living. In 1949 he accepted a position at Olympic Nat'l Ins. Co. in Seattle, where he met the love of his life, Lollie, Their marriage of 55 years produced 3 children. The family moved to OKC in 1958, where Bob was VP of underwriting for Standard Life and Accident Ins. Co. Until his retirement in 1989, Bob was VP of underwriting with Globe Life Ins. Co. Throughout his career he earned numerous insurance awards, including the prestigious FLMI award. Bob thoroughly enjoyed retirement. He was a Master Gardener, wise mentor and a great listener. He had the gift of mercy and delighted in giving to the poor and his church. Bob lived a full and wonderful life, he will forever be in our hearts and memories. We look forward to the day when we will be reunited in Heaven. The angels in Heaven rejoice because another Saint has come home. Bob leaves behind his wife, Lollie; sister Aileen Ebbeson; daughter Robin Buchanan (husband Louis, grandchildren Corey, Brandon, great grandchildren Brock, Braeden, Raegan, Ella & Sophia); daughter Valerie Farrand (husband Kent, grandchildren Nick and Jill); and son Rusty Megee. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cornerstone Assembly of God Bldg. Fund in Bethany or City Rescue Mission. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be 10:00 AM, Friday, October 29th, 2004 at Guardian West Funeral Home Chapel. GUARDIAN WEST 41 & N.
