A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, in St. Henry Catholic Church in Gresham for Robert Orion Palmquist, who died Nov. 5 at age 97.

Robert Orion Palmquist was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Wenatchee, Wash. He moved to Eugene in 1961, to Albany in 1970 and to Portland in 2000 before moving to Gresham in 2006. He was a carpenter and built wooden minesweepers during World War II. After the war, he designed and built houses in Oregon and Washington. In 1939 he married Alice M. Long; she died in 1999. He married Eugenia Arns in 2001.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Janice Palmquist-Westfall and Michele; son, Robert J.; stepson, Robert Arns; brothers, Edwin and Bernard; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
