About Robert Parker

While we know that Robert Parker was born in England, Jan. 2, 1637, it has not been proven without a doubt that William Parker and Mary Rawlins were his parents, alto many feel there's a good chance they were. i will reserve my opinion this until more evidence is available. What we do know is he was married to Patience Cobb and they had 8 children, In his will there there three other children listed but nothing was said who the mother of these children was. Obviously he must have been married another time. According to records she was Sarah James. Robert Parker sold 4 acears of marsh of Sandy Neck to Rev, Thomas Wally. In 1679 Robert Parker Bought a track of land at Sepican ( Rochester) from Samuel Allyn of Barntable.

In 1681 Robert Parker bought land at Mattapoisette ( Plym. Co. Deed)

Robert Parker was a member of the Congregational Church of Barnstable ( se West Parish) , Elisha and Alice Parker were Bpt. at West Parish Church , Barnstable, Ma.

Biography

Parents

Robert Parker's birth and parents are not known. Please do not add parents to this profile without adding sources for the information. An online family tree is not sufficient.

Frederick Freeman in his History of Cape Cod notes that Robert Parker was "supposed to be" the son of William Parker of Scituate [1]. This does not make it true. McLean notes in NEHGR 112:190 that there is no documented connection between William and Robert, including William Parker's will[2]. McLean notes the possibility that Robert Parker was the brother of Elisha Parker[2] for further research, but there is no evidence in the sources noted in this profile. Nor do the records indicate that another William Parker was in Scituate at the time, who was their father. This may be conflated information found in online family trees, and shouldn't be reflected in WikiTree unless sources can be provided.
Early Life

Robert Parker was born about 1637-40 in Massachusetts.

The first record of Robert Parker is in Barnstable, Massachusetts in 1655. The town records (vol 1 p 21) show that he held two parcels of land, 9 acres next to Henry Bourne and a piece in Scorton's Neck that had a boundary dispute in Oct 1656. The following year, 1657, he had six parcels totaling about 60 acres.[2]

Shortly after his first marriage, Parker was propounded as a freeman, 7 June 1659.[9]

He is referred to as a yeoman in these records.

The Barnstable records say a Robert Parker died in 1680[10] [11]. But 20 Jan 1683/4 it was recorded that Robert was admitted to the Barnstable Church and Elisha and Alice of Robert and Patience Parker were baptized 13 April 1684. A estate distribution agreement was made 2 March 1684/5[12], and an inventory, about £462 pounds, was taken 28 May 1685.[2] He was also noted, alive in 1683[13]

The estate distribution agreement names widow Patience, eldest son Samuel Parker, daughters Mary Jenkins and Jane Parker, John Jenkins husband of Mary, the eight children he had by Patience, Thomas, Daniell, Joseph, Benjamin, Elisha, Hannah, Sarah and Alice.
