Robert “Bob” Stanley Staats, 68, of Brunswick, Georgia, entered into rest with his God and heavenly father, on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Southeast Georgia Health System, following a brief illness, with his loving wife Annette, and caring family and friends by his side.

Bob was born November 24, 1948 in Pratt, Kansas the son of the late Stanley Eugene Staats and the late Elizabeth Caroline Staats. He graduated from Pratt High School and enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. He served his country with honors in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War receiving the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a member of the Marine Corps League Chapter 1333 and a member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church. Bob was a man of deep faith who studied and believed in the Almighty God and his Word. He was a person that never meet a stranger and had a personality that everyone loved. Bob enjoyed singing at his church and was a devoted member of the Silver Liners. He was a talented man who could sing, with a bass voice, most compared to Johnny Cash, and played several instruments including the rhythm and bass guitars. Bob was the Co-Director, Emcee and singer for “The Woodbine Opry/Saturday Night” Program since its founding 14 years ago.

He retired from Hajoca Corporation after twenty-five years of employment. After his retirement, he became a Funeral Attendant with Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

Bob was the devoted husband to Annette Dominey Staats, a loving father to his children, and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was an avid reader. He also enjoyed history and genealogy. Bob was a caring person that was always willing to help those in need. Bob will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.

Bob was preceded in death by his Parents, Stanley Eugene and Elizabeth Caroline Staats; a son, Bobby Council and late wife, Delree Council Staats, mother to his son Pete.Bobby Council.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Annette Dominey Staats of Brunswick, GA; his four sons, Pete Staats (Laura) of Brunswick, GA, Chuck Dixon (Brandi) of Brunswick, GA, Donnie Council (Marliyn) of Albany, GA, and Mike Council of Brunswick, GA; his two daughters, Pam Greminger (Kurt) of Savannah, GA and Debbie Anthony (Wade) of Pratt, KA; a sister, Nancy Brush (Bill) of Branson, MO; two precious grand children with another for coming soon, Elizabeth and Bobby Staats of Brunswick, GA.

The family will receive friends during the hours of 12:00-2:00 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A catered reception will be served. The family cordially invites you to help them celebrate Bob's life at his funeral service that will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Michael Gibbs will officiate the service with burial to follow in Chapel Park Cemetery.
