This company was organized in December 1862 when Capt. Samuel H. Crump's Company was split, forming Company D commanded by Capt. Joseph N. Taliaferro and Company F commanded by Capt. George M. Hood. Capt. Crump was promoted to Gen. W.H.T. Walkers Staff. Capt. Crump returned to the 12th Georgia at Petersburg in 1865. Individuals whose name is preceded by a * were in Capt. Crump's Company prior to the split, and have no record after the split. The company was made up of men from the Augusta Ga area.
