About Robert Whinery
Robert Whinery emigrated to the colonies from Grange, County Down (at the border of counties Tyrone and Armagh near Moy at the south end of Loch Neagh) along with his brother Patrick Jr. and his father Patrick Sr. about 1738. They arrived at or near Wilmington Delaware and were members of the Society of Friends (Quakers). Patrick Sr. journeyed to Ireland to bring back the rest of his family but perished at sea. His wife (mother of Robert and Patrick Jr.) and younger children remained in Ireland.
