Another booklet from a family reunion in July 28th, 1996 - lists his birthdate as, 8/12/1907. Possibly that is his baptism date.

Following quote is from a booklet given out at the Second Willis Family Re-Union at the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow, July 20th 1986:

"Robert "Bob" Willis was the 4th son of Richard Willis & Mary Stack. He was married to Margaret Josephine Moynihan, (Nina) of Lower Beecher Street, Mallow. They had four children. Date of marriage, Sept. 3, 1935.

He was a great sportsman, particularly at fishing & shooting and the sideboard of his home is still adorned with plaques & trophies he won at competitions in these sporting events.

Perhaps the most famous of these comptetitions was held for the heaviest salmon during "An Tostal" in 1958. He won this competition by catching a 28 1/2 lb. salmon at "Pol an Gorm" Park House, Mallow. It took a half-hour to land the salmon and it was gaffed by his eldest son, Dan. He used a brass coloured bait. A magnificent silver trophy was presented to him by Denis Mortell of Cork.

People of all walks of life in Mallow and its environs came to learn fishing from Robert. He was also very good at Fly tier & flies made by him are still treasured by the fishermen of Mallow & elsewhere. His skills as a fisherman were passed along to the younger generations of the family & they have been selected for the National Team for international competitions.

He was in the L.D.F. & was offered a commission in the same.

He worked in the Family Firm, R. Willis & Sons.

He died on November 18th 1967."

Robert Willis married Josephine Moynahan Sept. 3, 1935 at the Church of Mallow, Cork. He is listed as a painter who resided at West End. His father Robert Willis - a painter. She is listed as a house keeper & resided at Buck Road, Beecher Street. Her father, Daniel Moynahan- gardner. Witnesses: Joseph P Willis & Kathleen Taylor.
