He was probably "lord of Hylton", but was not a Baron within the meaning of the act, as the title did not exist until 1295.

Robert Hylton, 1st Baron Hylton (summoned to Parliament 1295; died 1322) Alexander Hylton, 2nd Baron Hylton (summoned to Parliament 1332, 1335; died 1360) No further summonses were issued, and the title was held de jure by Alexander's descendants until 1746.
