His mother: Lady Iris Mountbatten (13 January 1920 – 1 September 1982) was an English actress and model, and a member of the Battenberg/Mountbatten family. She was a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria. (Wikipedia) His father: On 5 May 1957, at Pound Ridge, New York, she married Michael Neely Bryan (9 August 1916, Byhalia, Mississippi - 20 August 1972, Glendale, California), son of James R. Bryan and Laura A. Neely, an American jazz musician. They divorced months later in 1957. Lady Iris had one child by her second marriage: Robin Alexander Bryan born 20 December 1957.[8]Mike Bryan was a self-taught guitarist born in Byhalia, Mississippi on August 9, 1916. Bryan is best known for his time playing with Benny Goodman and his contribution to a series of television documentaries sponsored by the Goodyear Tire Company featuring jazz musicians.

BACKGROUND: Mr Bryan would make an interesting king. Third cousin of the Queen and the son of the late Lady Iris Mountbatten and Mike Bryan from Mississippi, he is steadily rising up the line from 563 eight years ago.

There could be a few protocol matters to iron out, though. When last tracked down he was living in a ‘seedy’ part of Toronto, Canada, where he was working as a municipal gardener.

Bryan’s mother sold nylons in a New York department store and advertised bubble gum, and the only legacy of his royal bloodline was a few pieces of crested china, which had once belonged to his great-grandmother — Queen Victoria’s daughter, Princess Beatrice.

Every time he looks in the mirror, though, he says he sees a Hanoverian. As for potential heirs, he is the father of three illegitimate children by three different women.
