Mr. Hammond was born the son of the late Julius Hicks and Sadie Rogers Hammond. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the 1st Calvary Division. Mr. Hammond was wounded in service and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a retired farmer and businessman and was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. Mr. Hammond of the Spring Branch Community died at his home at age 82.
