Roland Harrison Choate (28 Sep 1888 Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts - 3 Jul 1959 Everett, Middlesex, Massachusetts) was the son of William Everett Choate, Jr (1864 – 1929) and Susie Frost Herrick (1866 – 1937). He grew up in Beverly, Massachusetts with a brother and four sisters. He loved the sea and purchased a power boat in 1906. He also entered the Marblehead Sailing Contingent in 1908.

On 25 Jul 1910 in Beverly, Massachusetts he married Alice Gertrude Works (6 Jan 1887 Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts - 21 Mar 1941 Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts) the daughter of William Frank Works (1858 – 1937) and Edna Augusta Groce (1869 – 1937). They lived at 246 Essex Street, Beverly, Massachusetts.

Roland and Alice had a daughter: Dorothy W Choate (25 Mar 1911 Salem, Essex, Massachusetts - 22 Mar 2003 Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts). Dorothy married Victor D Roland (1910 – 1963) of Pennsylvania. They had two children: Gay Woodbury Roland (who married John B Callahan, Lucien Post Locke, Jr and Gerald Timothy Donnellan) and Christopher Choate Roland (who married Judith Gail Lister).

During World War I Roland H Choate served as Captain in the 102nd Field Artillery, 26th Division. After the war he served in the National Guard.

On 9 Aug 1936 in Falmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts he married second Ethel Gertrude (Lenfest) Baker (30 Sep 1898 in Chelsea, Massachusetts - 2 Feb 1995 in Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee) daughter of Charles Grant Lenfest (1868 – 1927) and Maria Adela Sampson (1867 – 1949) of Cambridge, Massachusetts. They made a home at 24 Choate Lane, Falmouth, Massachusetts.

Gertrude (Lenfest) Choate was the former wife of Captain Roland Henry Baker, Sr (1897 - 1985) and she had a son and daughter from her previous marriage who were raised by Gertrude and Roland Harrison Choate:

1) Roland Henry Baker Lt Col Jr (10 Oct 1923 Chelsea, Suffolk, Massachusetts - 12 Jun 1994 Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee) who married first Cornelia Keyworth and had two daughters: Kathryn Ann (Baker) Larsen and Carey Lee (Baker) Sotack. Roland Baker, Jr married second to Joan Leonard Chadbourne and had one son: Roland Henry Baker, III

2) Jean Baker (7 February 1928 Belmont, Middlesex, Massachusetts - 21 Feb 2003 Falmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts) who had three daughters: Robin Murphy, Susan Murphy, Kim Murphy.

During Wold War II Roland Choate and Gertrude moved to Memphis, Tennessee, for a few years to support the war effort by managing a munitions factory.

They moved home to Massachusetts after the war. He served as executive director of the Falmouth Housing Authority. He was also a real estate agent.

He died on 3 Jul 1959 in Everett, Middlesex, Massachusetts. He was buried with the Lenfest Family at Woodlawn Cemetery.
